Well beaten by a much better team for a disappointing result and a well below par performance.
Harrogate had us watched a couple of times and were very effective in the way they played, they pressed high up the pitch, which we were unable to cope with, broke quickly and effectively on the counter often out-numbering us as the flowed forward with pace and excellent technical ability. We really could not cope and they made us look like a very ordinary pub team.
We were not over-powered physically and they did not kick us........they were just better all over the pitch; so no excuses!!!
The squad must learn that they have to ALL be on the top of their game for the full 90 mins. Instead our concentration and decision making were of a poor standard; we gave the ball away wholesale, which is just not good enough. Some players are making the same mistakes despite the work in training and that being re-emphasised in pre-match instructions, this will obviously impact on their improvement and progress to higher levels.
All said and done, we are not out of the title race, it just means we need to win our remaining games; but the performance has to improve or - no chance.
