another decent week

Much happier with the boys last week against a young fit well orginized team. The first half performance was fine although we did not work the keeper enough given the amount of possession we had but in the second half we stepped up a gear and gave ourselves a three goal cushion. Good finishing from Carl and Russell provided a relatively comfortable afternoon. Well done but a big test awaits tomorrow. Browny and Ged will not be fit whilst Russ is on county duty but Joel returns having trained well on Tuesday which is a bonus. The 19's continued their good form ahead of Mondays big game with a 6-0 win at Goole and we continue to be excited by their potential. A few of them turned out on the Wednesday against York under 17's where a young team containing five under 16's played out an enjoyable game despite losing 1-0. Lyle got an important 90 minutes here and enjoyed the run out and came through pretty well which was a real plus point as was the gradual improvement in Jonny Burbeck's fitness and form. A couple of the 16's certainly caught the eye as players we will be keen to see more of and it was a good exercise on the whole. On the whole things continue in the right direction which is a credit to the players keep up the good work.
